Honora "Nora" Granger better known as Mom

I recall visiting my Granny "Elmire" when I was only a girl. One day she pulled out this box. It was only a shoe box, but had been lovingly covered with fabric to signify the importance of the treasures contained within. We sat for a long visit and she lovingly pulled them out one at a time telling the stories. The pictures were mostly taken by her mother (pictured here on the porch with her husband). As a young girl, I was so drawn in to all of the stories. As an adult, I became interested in taking pictures myself. I often recalled the ones my grandmother held so dear. I went to her one day to request borrowing the pictures to make copies. She allowed me to take the pictures to scan them. I did this and now have copies as well as CD's with all of these treasured memories. I hope to post more photos and tell the stories associated with them. I want them to live on like a legacy to her and don't just sit in the box.

The photos of 'Mam' are interesting, considering that I grew up to be a photographer without knowing that our great-grandmother was herself a photographer. I'm honored to share that part of our family history.
