(Mom) Nora Granger

Mom on the other hand was a no-nonsense, stern, serious person. She said children had to be taught not spoiled. Nora (Mom) was a talented woman and was not afraid to try anything. She built furniture for the yard, and made cement frogs with molds. She loved music and whenever we were all at her house for a bar-b-cue she’d bring out her harmonica and play and dance all over the yard with all the children dancing behind her like the Pied Piper.

Coal oil Pop Alcibiade

Momma told many stories about when we were little and there are many more that we remember. One story she told was about when the twins were two years old. Pop drove a coal oil truck and would pass on his route to visit us. He was especially intrigued by having two children exactly alike. One day he decided that he would try to follow 2 energetic little girls for one entire day. He crawled, jumped, ran, went under beds, climbed on dressers and chairs, by ten a.m. he was worn out and had to stop for a rest. Pop was a playful happy man very easygoing.

A Visit With Granny At The Nursing Home

During this visit with Granny, she was so excited to tell us how her 'baby', Vic had succeeded at becoming a truck driver. "Whatever she decides to do, she does it. She drives all over the United States, then when she passes close to here, she stops by to visit with me. I'm so proud of her and I'm so happy for her!" Granny told us with excitement.

Vic, tell us some of your trucker stories and how Granny responded when you shared them with her ...:~)
